Master After Effects in Weeks, Not Years

After Effects can seem quite daunting when you first open it, so the first module will be focused on becoming comfortable with the software.

It's important to understand exactly what everything is and how to work with different files and compositions.

We'll be ramping things up quite quickly, so it's important we're all on the same page!

It's time to create your first animation!

You'll be introduced to understanding the core parameters which are essential for any motion project, good workflow techniques and understanding keyframes.

We'll then take a deeper dive into how to make our animations super smooth with the graph editors before being introduced to some animation principles.

This module is all about shapes! 

Now you understand how to work with layers, you'll be introduced to shape layers which offer much more flexibility than it might seem. 

You'll learn how to utilise masks and mattes, before putting everything together to create your very own loop.

Animating text is an essential part of any motion designers tool kit. 

We'll take a look at how to setup custom text animations using range selectors and how to layer them together.

Then we'll create some fun text animations that often appear in projects.

So far you've learnt a lot and it's been pretty intense.

It's time to revisit any areas you need to before we move on to the really fun stuff!

You'll also find some extra bonus lessons on transitions to prepare you for the modules ahead.

It's time to take it up a notch!

You'll be introduced to how to create your own faux 3D loops and I'll share some trickery to make these simpler than ever.

We'll then stylize our work with built in effects and layer styles to make it look even better.

Enter the world of 3D! 

Using Parallax and 3D layers is an excellent way to add extra depth to our scenes. You'll learn exactly how to set it up and be introduced to your first use of expressions to add some simple animation to the project!

Expressions can be scary but they are a great way to automate certain parts of our animations.

I'll introduce you to my favourite ones and show you just how simple and useful they can be.

You've learnt a lot so now it's time to put everything together with your first big project.

The first part will be all about pre-production. You'll learn how to generate ideas, produce storyboards and style frames and then prepare your artwork for animation.

In the second part, we'll build our animation in After Effects, before utilizing transitions and effects to create a project you're truly proud of.
