Do I need any experience with After Effects?
None at all. Motion Essentials starts from absolute zero. The first module is entirely focused on getting comfortable with the software so it stops feeling intimidating. This is the course I wish had existed when I started.
How is this different from watching YouTube tutorials?
YouTube tutorials show you one result. Motion Essentials removes the guesswork by teaching you why each technique works, in the right order, so nothing feels random or disconnected. You'll actually know how to use the tools yourself, not just recognise them from someone else's video.
How long will this take me to complete?
There's around 7.5 hours of instructional content. Most students complete the full course in 15–22 hours when factoring in practice time. With unlimited access you can go as fast or slow as you need, there are no deadlines.
What software do I need?
You can follow along with any Adobe After Effects version. However I'm using version 25.6.6, so you'll need this version or higher if you want to open any of the included project files. Adobe Illustrator would be a great addition but not essential, as I've provided those files too.
